My name is Maria João and I am 41 years old. I was born and raised in the city of Lisbon, Portugal, and I have a multicultural background. I have been influenced since early age with different music, styles and cultures. I am a very lively person with loads of energy.
I am humble and eager to learn in a daily basis. Communication is one of my strongest assets! This is my city and as one of my friends say "This girl is Lisbon!". Sure it is...
For 12 years, I worked as a casino dealer in Lisbon. I enjoyed managing clients and earning good tips. However, I eventually felt the desire to change my life. Feeling stagnant in my career and exhausted from working nights and rotating shifts, I decided to return to university and equip myself with the best tools to succeed.
I believe that never is a word we should not even speak (the words have a lot of power, do you know?). At 40, I quit a well-paid, but awful, job to change my life. I took some time for myself and backpacked solo around South America. I visited Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia and Peru.

I enjoy reading and writing. Cooking is a form of meditation for me. My family is my support system, and my little dog is my everything. I enjoy watching series and documentaries, and traveling is essential for my emotional well-being.

I have taken on new professional projects and for the first time, I am doing what I love.

In 2022, I was able to leave the casino. While studying, I worked as a Junior Account Manager for Jungle Corner, as a tour guide and tuk-tuk driver, and sold at flea markets to earn additional income.
​
I assisted with short-term workers at Boom Festival for two months while camping at Boomland.
​
Additionally, I have aided my friends' small businesses with their online and social media projects over the past two years. I provide consultancy services for brands, including building Personas, Empathy, and Experience maps.
We can't forget the power and the revolution of AI. It is here to stay. Or we catch up or we stay behind. The opportunities that are emerging in this industry are overwhelming.

I have a keen eye for consumer behavior and a strong visual and design culture.

What fascinates me about marketing is its ability to capture the attention with authority. Changing minds and mentalities is that important as well.
